• Carl Johnson, D.V.M.

    Dr. Johnson received his Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Veterinary Science degrees from Iowa State University. He practiced large and small animal medicine in the Houston, Texas area before moving to Pekin in 1991. He lives here with his family and their dog Elpheba. When not taking care of his patients at PAH, you may find him in his backyard peering into the night sky through one of his telescopes or touring countryside on his vintage Honda motorcycle.


  • Nicole Johnson, D.V.M

    Dr. Nikki is a 2003 graduate of the University of Illinois. She is a Pekin native and returned to the area to join PAH in August of 2008. She is a very active member of the Association of Reptilian and Amphibian Veterinarians. In addition to treating dogs and cats, Dr. Nikki has a strong background in exotic and zoo animal medicine and surgery. In her free time she does some work for the Peoria Zoo. She is also an avid runner and in 2012 she joined the St. Jude Memphis to Peoria runners and returned to run with them, again, in 2013. She shares her life with her son, their 2 Akitas Holly and Saint, their cats Autumn and Sophie and the house full of reptiles including their continuously growing African Spurred Tortoise, Blue, who enjoys spending her winters, and entertaining the staff at PAH!


  • Stacie Gallagher, D.V.M

    Dr. Stacie Gallagher is a 2013 graduate from Ross University. She grew up in Princeville and recently returned to the area and began working at PAH May 2014. Stacie and her husband live with their 4 cats, (Sabine, Sonora, Evie, and Miss Kitty) and 3 dogs (Rufus, Rhea, and Anya). They are hoping to get some goats soon! In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family, reading, fishing and riding her horses. Dr. Stacie is also involved with TLC foster rescue; a local non-profit rescue.


  • Shannon Seiss, C.V.T

    While still in high school, in 1989, Shannon started at PAH in the kennel. She attended Parkland College, graduated from the Veterinary Technology Program and passed her state boards in 1992 and returned to PAH later that same year.

    Shannon's special interest is in animal behavior, primarily dogs, which she works into her duties as often as possible at PAH. She is also on the board, as Director of Operations, for a local foster based rescue group. They have seen much success, and she has high hopes of that to continue. She and her husband, a Pekin native, were married in 1994 and they have one son who was born in 1997 and his now attending Pekin Community High School. They share their Pekin home with one 21 year old cat, Midas, 1 Great Pyrenees, Hayden, an Akita, Hotch, their newest addition, a young cat named Denny and an ever changing number of pet rats! In her spare time she loves to go on walks with the dogs, reading, taking photographs and waiting for football season!


  • Betsy - Veterinary Technician

    Betsy was born and raised in Pekin. She graduated from Pekin Community High School in 1976 and started working at PAH in August of that same year. She enjoys working with all the PAH clients and pets as she has for the last 30 years. She has two cats at home, Denni and Bud and two dogs, Penny and Boone. She and her husband have 3 horses and a handful of cows on their farm in Kentucky where they plan to retire in the coming years.


  • Sally - Receptionist

    Sally has been with PAH for 34 years so she has seen first and second generations come through the doors and she's made many friends. At home, Sally is kept busy with Reba, her 10 1/2 year old Bug(Boston/Pug mix) and Marvin, her 1 1/2 year old cat. Between the two, there is never a dull moment. Sally has a grown son, Eric, who works at Keystone and is an avid hunter. She enjoys spending time with him and with her friends.


  • Misty - Receptionist

    Misty started working at PAH in 2007. She is the mother of a beautiful young daughter and lives in Pekin. They share their home with an assortment of animals that range from dogs and cats and ferrets to rats and reptiles! She has loved animals her entire life and despite being allergic to most them, she couldn't imagine her life without them!


  • Dawn - Receptionist

    Dawn started working for Pekin Animal Hospital in February of 2015 as a receptionist. Prior to working at PAH, she spent the majority of her career working in operations management for human prosthetic laboratories.

    When Dawn was born, her parents already had a fur baby at home, a two year old Boxer named Ginger. Ginger was almost 15 when she crossed the Rainbow Bridge. Since then, Boxers have always held a special place in Dawn's heart.

    She has two adult sons, Derek and Jered, and lives in Pekin with her current Boxer, Roxy.


  • Charity - Receptionist/Social Media Manager

    “I’ve had a pet to come home to every day of my life and, as such, I’ve never lived a day without love. There is no other kind of companionship as simple or as great. So, I couldn’t ask for a better position than one that affords me the opportunity to foster the bond between a pet and its human.”

    Charity has a degree in Web Systems from Illinois Central College, where she also works part-time as a social media manager. Charity joined the PAH team in June of 2015 as a receptionist and, soon after, took on a dual role as one of our social media managers.

    Charity has two delightful dogs. A handsome Pembroke Welsh Corgi named Radar and a lovable Shorkie (Shih Tzu/Yorkie) named Jilly. She also has a wonderful son who loves animals as much as she does and who is currently working toward a degree in architecture. Charity also enjoys doing what she can for animals in need as a volunteer and foster parent for TLC Fosters.


  • Whitney - Vet Assistant/Kennel Attendant

    Whitney started at PAH in 2011 and she says she enjoys it a lot. She and her boyfriend have one chocolate lab, of her own, named Savanna and a Pitt Bull named Bee, along with 2 turtles and a bearded dragon. In her free time she likes to take long hikes with her dogs and cruise around in her tiny British sports car! She likes working with all the animals, especially the exotics. She hopes to continue her education and eventually become a CVT.



  • Katie - Vet Assistant/Kennel Attendant

    Katie started at PAH in early 2013 and so far she loves her job, here. She was formerly a nanny in Colorado, but she is a 2006 graduate of Pekin Community High School and currently pursuing her associates degree in Graphic Design. She a Brittany Spaniel/Beagle mix named Jacks. She enjoys reading, traveling and watching the Steelers during football season.
